The Pharmacy Council undertakes several projects each year to ensure it is responsive to emerging regulatory and pharmacy practice trends to ensure that the Council’s work and the regulatory framework for pharmacists adapts and meets the needs of the pharmacy profession.

 

Accreditation standards and system 

Development of an accreditation system to ensure pharmacy education providers and their programmes support the delivery of safe and competent health practitioners.

 

Pharmacist competence standards 

Refresh of professional competence standards for the pharmacist scope of practice.

 

Te Tiriti o Waitangi and health equity 

Development initiatives to enable the Pharmacy Council to give greater effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi in regulatory practice and to support the achievement of health equity.

 

Joint prescriber regulatory tools 

Exploring the development of nationally standardised regulatory tools with other responsible authorities, to support safer prescribing across prescribing professions.
