We are pleased to advise that the Ministry of Health (the Ministry) has again asked Council to offer respite to pharmacists and particularly, help support pharmacists / pharmacies that have had to self-isolate, through a fourth tranche of the Pharmacy Team Relief Fund.
It is appreciated that many community pharmacists are again under tremendous pressure due to the pandemic and need to take some time off from work to maintain their well-being and/or some pharmacies have had to call in additional staff to support those self-isolating.
A fourth tranche of the fund, amounting to $0.5 million (the Fund) enabling workload relief for overstretched community pharmacy teams, has been set up to cover the period from Monday 16 August 2021 to Thursday 30 December 2021. The Ministry has asked that the Fund be administered in alignment with key policy criteria and outcomes.
The Fund is targeted to community pharmacy teams that meet criteria such as: working in a community pharmacy, team members have had to self-isolate and additional pharmacists employed, providing services to Māori and/or Pacific peoples, possibly working as a sole practitioner, and those in independent, or independent franchise-held pharmacies.
